    History

    Kingdom Hearts II

Ms. Potts made her first appearance in the physics of the Kingdom Hearts franchise in Kingdom Hearts II. Before Sora's arrival at Beast Castle, Beast was being provoked by Xaldin, a member of Organization XIII. In his fury, Beast locked his servants (including Mrs. Potts) in the castle dungeon. When Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrived at Beast Castle, they were sent to rescue the servants, at Bella's request. Upon entering the dungeon, Sora and company were surprised to find that the cell, which supposedly held the imprisoned servants, contained only household items. Din Don, the castle's steward, was reluctant to show himself to Sora, but Mrs. Potts immediately suggested that he was trustworthy, noting that Sora and his friends did not look like "them" (presumably they were referring to the Heartless ). After introducing themselves to Sora, the servants explained their situation: the Beast was once a prince who had been cursed by a sorceress to appear as a monster because of his selfish and indifferent personality, and they (the servants) had been sentenced to appear as household objects so that the Beast would have to take care of changing his ways not only for his own good, but for theirs as well.

Once released from jail, Mrs. Potts and her son Chip (a mug), along with Din Don (a watch) and Lumiere (a chandelier) guided Sora, Donald, and Goofy through a secret dungeon passage to avoid possible Heartless attacks. However, the lanterns all the way were filled with darkness. Ms. Potts played an important role in getting the group past this obstacle as she followed Sora to each lamp and quenched the darkness with her python's water.

After exiting the passage, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and Lumiere left the group to attend to their duties at the castle, remaining in the Hall to avoid confrontation with the Heartless. They stayed out of the main action until after Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Beast rescued Bella from the Lurking Shadow / Shadow Thorns that Xaldin had put behind her. In the wake of this event, along with a small amount of back-and-forth between Beauty and the Beast, Mrs. Potts tried to remain optimistic that the two manage to develop a stronger relationship.

When Sora returned to Beast Castle ahead on their way, they found the servants who had arranged a special evening for Beauty and the Beast in an attempt to bring them closer to each other. When Xaldin appeared to sneak into the party, Bella, Mrs. Potts, and the other servants retreated to the safety of the Ballroom balcony. After Sora and Beast defeated Xaldin's Nobodies, Beast ran to his room to make sure Xaldin hadn't stolen his rose. Mrs. Potts seemed especially concerned about the rose, although she did not say why.

When it was discovered that the rose had indeed been stolen, and that Beast had banished Bella from the castle in desperation, Sora finally decided to find out why the rose was so important. Mrs. Potts helped explain that the rose represents the countdown to when Beast would have to find true love or remain a beast forever. She and the other servants asked Sora to help the Beast, which he did, and they eventually defeated Xaldin and managed to regain all that was precious to the Beast.

In the end, Mrs. Potts saw Beauty and Beast make up, and made the observation that Bella was the only one who is "always ready for a little adventure." In the credits of Kingdom Hearts II, it is shown that Beast had been restored to his human form, implying that Mrs. Potts had become human again.

    Appearance

The curse transformed Mrs. Potts into a large white kettle. She has blue-green eyes and thin, black eyebrows. Its base is purple with gold coating and a light, pink and blue pattern alternating on it. The head cap is purple with wavy edges and the lining is gold. The handle is a pink ball that is on top of the lid. Although her human figure is never shown in Kingdom Hearts, in the Beauty and the Beast movie it is revealed that she was an older woman, short, plump, and wearing a pink maid outfit.

    Personality

Mrs. Potts' nature is very motherly, which is right for her as she is the mother of Teacup Chip and his other brothers and sisters (the latter were not featured in the Kingdom Hearts saga). As the housekeeper of the castle, she has a very strict sense of responsibility. She is often kind and comforting, but can be severe when the situation calls for it; Of all the Beast's servants, she is the one most likely to confront him for his behavior when he's in a bad mood (based on how Beast's mood is).

    Skills

Mrs. Potts cannot completely destroy the Darkness, but she can help do so by sprinkling water from her python. However, to completely get rid of any darkness, the help of the Keyblade and the Lumiere candlelight is required.

    From

Mrs. Potts (Beauty and the Beast 1991)

Mrs. Potts made her first appearance in the 1991 Walt Disney film Beauty and the Beast. The idea

that she and the other servants appeared as haunted house objects was originally suggested by the film's lyricist, Howard Ashman. Therefore, she was a completely original Disney character, having never appeared in other incarnations of Beauty and the Beast with a story prior to the Disney version.
