El Paopu fruit (パ オ プ の 実 Paopu No Mi?) Is a star-shaped fruit native to the Destiny Islands. It resembles the carambolo. According to the legend, "If two people share it, their destinies will unite. They will be part of each other, whatever happens." This fruit has great meaning, and the only people who have been seen sharing it are Sora and Kairi in the Kingdom Hearts saga.

Appearance
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Aqua mentions the fruit when she delivers the Everjoint, similar to Kairi's, to Terra and Ventus. She explains the symbolic link the fruit has, and how it applies to good luck charms. Stitch also shows Ventus a Paopu Fruit that he made from pieces of space in Deep Space, which was inspired by Terra's Always Together when he visited the world.
After helping the Lost Children of a swarm of Nesciente at Skull Rock, Terra arrives at the Destiny Islands in the wake of a bright light. Seeing the beach, he looks towards the shore as he notices a Paopu Fruit and realizes that it has fallen from a tree. He approaches the tree and investigates it, remembering Aqua's words about the power the fruit has before meeting Riku, whom he gives the power to one day wield the Keyblade.
When Aqua arrives at the Destiny Islands, also following a light, she finds the Paopu Tree and is excited to see it. She ran into Sora and Riku as she walked back along the bridge, she was almost about to bequeath the power of the Keyblade to Sora, but decides not to as she feels that Riku had already received the power from Terra.
Kingdom Hearts
In a short scene from Kingdom Hearts, Riku talks about the fruit to Sora as they walk across the bridge to the Destiny Islands. Riku throws a paopu at him and tells him the legend. Sora gets nervous and throws the paopu into the water before starting to run towards the boats. The next day, as Sora and Riku are about to start a race over the name dispute for the raft, Riku places a bet. He says that the winner of the race would share a paopu fruit with Kairi (although if you talk to him after the race, he says he was just kidding). This intensifies the rivalry between the two, both to show who is the strongest and to get Kairi's attention. Selphie thinks the legend is very romantic and would like to try it.
Later, in the Secret Place, Sora draws a picture of himself giving Kairi the fruit. At the end of the game, when Kairi returns to the Islands, she sees the picture that made her cry as she draws another picture of herself giving the fruit to Sora.
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, the fake good luck charm that Naminé gave Sora at Castle Oblivion resembles a paopu fruit. This amulet returns to its true form when Sora begins to remember Kairi.
Kingdom Hearts II
In Kingdom Hearts II, the paopu fruit is the Embrace of Destiny keychain. Upon his return to the Destiny Islands, Sora discovers that Kairi had painted a paopu in the image where a year earlier he also painted, the drawing where Sora and Kairi are exchanging a paopu.
Kingdom Hearts III
While Riku was talking to her version possessed by darkness, Kairi held out a Paopu fruit, while she held another, saying that their next battle would be the toughest they have ever had and that she wanted to be part of her life, no matter what, they did. the promise that they would take care of each other and share it like the painting they painted in the cave.
