La Door to Darkness (闇の扉 Yami no Tobira?), Also known as Kingdom Hearts Final Door, is an object from the Kingdom Hearts series. This door is a tall white door that first appears in Kingdom Hearts, at World's End. Beyond the gate is the Realm of Darkness where Kingdom Hearts is, the heart of all worlds. She is known to Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, as she repeatedly mentions the phrase "The door is open", which is also spoken by Riku when the Destiny Islands are engulfed by darkness in the beginning of Sora's adventures. .

History

Kingdom Hearts

After the battle with the Chaotic World, Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness opens the door and asks Kingdom Hearts to fill it with the power of darkness. But, Kingdom Hearts reveals itself as light and destroys it. Afterward, Sora, Donald, and Goofy attempt to close the door to restore Riku, but their efforts are futile. However, King Mickey appears, and they manage to close the door. In doing so, King Mickey assures Sora, Donald, and Goofy that there will always be a door to light, and then Sora and Mickey then use their respective Keyblades to seal the door to darkness forever.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Riku fights Ansem in a place similar to the Gate of Darkness.

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories as well as its remastering, Riku's final battle against Ansem happens in a location similar to the Door to Darkness.

The Door to Darkness appeared in Sora's memories when Roxas was dreaming about them. It is also connected to Espacio Paranoico. Tron needs a password to access the "DTD" (short for Door to Darknees), and when Sora, Donald and Goofy return to Hollow Hold, King Mickey reveals that the "DTD" refers to the Door to Darkness. Since the seven Princesses of the Heart are forced to open the Door to Darkness, the names of the princesses were the key. In order to prevent the PCM from accessing the data, Tron changes the password to the names Sora, Donald, and Goofy.

After Xemnas escapes from Sora and his friends at the Altar of Unbeing by merging with his Kingdom Hearts, a door similar to the Door to Darkness appears, leading to the World of Nothingness that Xemnas has created within. King Mickey says that the door was a gift from the worlds, who have accepted Sora as their guardian. Sora and the others pass through the door, while Kairi and King Mickey stay behind; and after apparently defeating Xemnas they return once more to the Altar of Unbeing, where Naminé opens a Corridor of Darkness to the Destiny Islands. Just as Kairi passes through the portal, Xemnas returns in his gigantic mechanical robot and attacks the tower, dragging Sora and Riku back to the World of Nothingness. This time, however, they don't go through the door.
